Brian and Liz hail from the USA, but have been living and working as educators and mentors for seven years at the University of Maastricht, NL. In 2023, they set out upon their epic “Bike x Boat” expedition project - an ambitious combination of two human-powered modes of travel.
I’ve been paddling and living on the North Devon coast actively for the last 15 years and recreationally for 5 years prior to that. We have some of the biggest tides in the world in the Bristol Channel and substantial swells and surf which at the very worst helps instill a confidence in your ability to review, react and cope with most sea paddling situations. On a calm day there is nowhere better to meander and explore. When the conditions pick up (as we also get a bit of wind and rain in the UK, believe it or not!) this is when it is imperative that both you and your equipment are fit to cope with the increased forces. TRAK kayaks cope with these conditions. I surf 5 foot breaking surf, punch out through heavy dumping waves and tackle volatile tide races all in the name of fun! With the thigh braces set properly the TRAK rolls with relative ease too. I feel it performs and looks much more like a high-end hard shell sea kayak than most people would imagine.
Eric has been paddling his TRAK since 2012 and boast about its portability and stow-ability; even without a car or a garage, he can own a kayak! Eric has been getting to places he didn’t think he would, places few others get to see. He enjoys vast, open windswept places and his TRAK kayak helps him get there. Eric was a Pilot member of the TRAK 20/20 Team, and contributed feedback that was essential do developing the TRAK 2.0.
