Location: Dresden, Germany
Born and raised completely landlocked in former East Germany I have always been drawn to the water, feeling the strong need to be in it and on it. With that keenness I took every opportunity to get out on the water ideally for multi-day trips and first set out sailing and canoeing. While hitchhiking in Northern Ontario I was picked up by a sea kayak trainer from BC and talking to him about his adventures I knew I had to get into sea kayaking.
While life’s adventures led me to live, learn and work in many different places such as Ireland, the Netherlands, Sicily, the Canaries, Jordan, Russia, Canada, my native Germany and to sail across the Atlantic Ocean I was in search of "my kayak“ to take with me wherever I go. I already knew about this amazing foldable TRAK kayak and by coincidence during a paddle trip on Berlin’s Spree River in one of the locks I ended up beside a guy in a TRAK kayak. Speaking to him about the TRAK kayak made me realize: that’s my boat!
I finally received my TRAK 2.0 "Rosalie“ while recently living and paddling on Vancouver Island, BC, and have just returned back to Dresden, Germany with my wonderful kayak in tow.
After returning to Germany in July of 2024, I set out on a circumnavigation of Rügen - Germany's biggest island - with my partner. The TRAK 2.0 handled everything from train logistics, major wind conditions, and huge open water crossings!
